Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how BURGO Green ("BURGO Green," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). It is intended to help you understand what information we process, why we process it, and the choices and rights you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you choose to sign in, we may collect your name and email address through your chosen sign-in provider (for example, Google). We only receive the basic profile information needed to create and secure your account.
- Scan activity. When you scan a product barcode, we process the barcode and related product information to return ingredient details to you.
- Device and usage data. We may collect limited technical information such as app version, device type, and general usage patterns to keep the Service reliable and secure.
How we use information
- To provide barcode scanning and ingredient information.
- To create and secure your account and preferences.
- To maintain, improve, and troubleshoot the Service.
- To communicate with you about support requests and updates.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to make medical decisions, and the Service does not diagnose or treat any health condition.
Authentication and backend services
Account authentication and certain backend services (such as database and hosting functionality) may be provided through Supabase acting as a service provider that processes data on our behalf. Information needed to create and secure your account, and to operate the Service, may be stored and processed using this infrastructure.
Google Sign-In and Google user data
If you sign in with Google, our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only request the minimum scopes necessary to authenticate you, use Google user data solely to provide and improve the sign-in and account features you request, and do not use Google user data for advertising.
Camera permission
The app requests access to your device camera solely to scan product barcodes and product labels. Camera access is only used while you are actively using a scanning feature, and you can enable or disable the camera permission from your device settings. We do not access your camera in the background.
Data sharing and service providers
We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate the Service, under arrangements requiring appropriate protection of the information. These providers may include authentication, database, hosting, analytics, and infrastructure providers. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Legal bases for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we may rely on performance of the Service, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and consent where applicable. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. You may request deletion of your account data at any time.
Account deletion
You can delete your BURGO Green account from within the mobile app or request deletion of your account and associated personal data by following our Account Deletion instructions. We will delete or anonymise personal data associated with the account except where retention is required for legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, or regulatory reasons.
Your choices
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
- You can disconnect a linked sign-in provider.
- You can manage app permissions such as camera access from device settings.
GDPR and EEA users
If you are in the EEA, United Kingdom, or another region with comparable rights, subject to applicable law you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International data transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including outside the EEA. Where required, appropriate safeguards or recognised transfer mechanisms will be used.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. No transmission or storage method is completely secure.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice where appropriate.
